Why Glasses or Contact Lenses?

Blurred vision can sometimes be caused by an uncorrected refractive error (need for glasses). When light rays do not focus properly to the back of the eye a pair of glasses or contact lenses are indicated to achieve the best vision.

Astigmatism

Caused by an irregular shape of the cornea or lens resulting in blurred vision and distortion for distance and near. Use of glasses or toric contact lenses corrects this distortion providing clear sight.

Hyperopia (farsightedness)

Caused by an eye that is too short or a cornea that is too flat. Light rays are focused behind the retina. Glasses or contacts with plus power correct vision and bring the image onto the retina.

Myopia (nearsightedness)

Caused by an eye that is too long or a cornea that is too steep. Light rays are focused in front of the retina. Glasses or contacts with minus power move the image back to the retina to correct sight.

Presbyopia (difficulty changing focus)

Caused as the lens inside the eye starts to harden with age. More focusing power for near vision is naturally needed over time. Bifocal glasses and contact lenses correct this problem.

Routine screenings are billable to your vision insurance. Vision plans usually cover this type of examination every 1-2 years. Please visit our Financing / Insurance page for further information.
